How big is 52 cm really — will a 12 lb cat fit?
52 cm is 20.5 in across, and 22 cm (8.7 in) tall including the backrest. Because it is a flat pad rather than a deep donut, a grown cat lies stretched out instead of having to curl into the middle.
Is the backrest firm enough to lean on, or does it flop over?
It is a filled plush cushion that sits at the rear of the pad, tall enough for a cat to rest its head and shoulders against. It is soft rather than rigid — made to lean on, not to sit up like a wall.
What is the difference between the Bear and Cat designs?
They are two different looks, not just a colour swap: the cat is a blue character backrest over a pink striped mat, and the bear is a brown teddy backrest over a cream striped mat. Both are the same 52 x 52 x 22 cm size.
Will the plush go flat or pill over time?
The pile is a woven striped texture rather than a printed pattern, so there is no print to rub off. Brushing along the stripes now and then lifts the hair out and stands the pile back up.
Will my cat chew the pom-poms off?
The trim is a sewn pom-pom edge worked into the rim rather than a loose or dangling attachment. As with any soft bed, it is worth checking over now and then if your cat is a determined chewer.
