No. The shelves are engineered-wood panels (the maker's close-ups show particle board on several styles), set in a powder-coated iron frame.
Will it wobble or tip over?
The frame is square iron tube, 0.78 in (2 cm) on the styles the maker measures, and most styles have adjustable foot pads for uneven floors. Like any tall open shelf, anchor it to the wall, especially around kids and pets.
How much weight can each shelf hold?
Per the maker's diagrams, the Half-Moon takes 30 lb (13.6 kg) per shelf and 60 lb (27 kg) on the top and bottom boards, and the Full Arc takes 25–50 lb (11.3–22.7 kg) depending on shelf width. The other styles have no published rating, so keep heavier books on the lower shelves.
