Clean the face of the door under the handle with a dry cloth so the pad meets bare surface.

Tear the backing off the pad and press the base plate firmly into place below the lever.

Get it nowDoes it work on a round doorknob?
No — this one fits lever-style handles. The arm stands against the lever so it cannot be pushed down, which is something a knob cover cannot do.
Which side does it go on — could my toddler shut me in?
It mounts on one face of the door and blocks the lever on that face, so fit it on the side you want to stop. Think about which way the door needs to open in a hurry before you press it down.
Will the adhesive hold on a painted or textured door?
The pad grips best on a smooth, clean, dry surface. Fresh paint, heavy texture and steamy rooms all give it less to hold, so wipe the spot first and let the bond set before the first pull.
How do I take it off later?
Warm the mounting pad with a hairdryer for a few seconds, then pull the lock away from the door.
Can an adult open it quickly, one-handed?
Press the release button and swing the arm aside — it takes two fingers, so it still works with a laundry basket on your hip.
Will it fit around my handle and backplate?
It sticks to the flat of the door, not the handle, on a 4.8 cm (1.9 in) base plate; locked, the arm stands 7 cm (2.7 in) off the door and is 1.5 cm (0.6 in) thick at the tip. Check there is room for that base plate below your lever before ordering.
